How long Does it take to build a website?!
Uh, I think that depends on a lot of things. When you pull up a well done website on the internet, you see a finished product. And just like whatever product or service you offer, it didn’t come to be that way overnight. Here are the factors that go into making a website a reality:
How much research have you done? Do you know your audience? Have you taken the time to build out a creative strategy that’s aligned with your business goals? Do you care about a creative strategy? A beautiful website is one thing, but when you jump in blind without information guiding your design and decision making, it can add tons of time to your build out. An amazing generic website can be built quickly. An amazing website with substance and intention takes time and will give you greater results.
Who’s building it? Are you jumping in DIY-style, winging it with a template and You Tube videos? Or is a seasoned professional who knows the tools doing the work? Don’t get me wrong, professionals take time, but the end result is worth it.
What platform are you using? The internet is an amazing and terrible place all at once. There is a vast amount of resources and ways to do everything and each platform carries it’s own ins and outs. If you’re using Squarespace, for example, it’s pretty straightforward. You can have a website up and on the internet in 10-20 hours, no problem. If you’re using Wordpress or any other more robust tool, probably double that.
As a person and as a business, time is one of your resources. You can always build a website yourself or you can find someone that will take the time to build it for you. You might save time or you might get an end result that’s been given the time and intention it deserves to create an end result that evolves and grows your business and your online presence.
